I prefer paper patterns. My dial-up internet connection frequently croaks on pdf pattern downloads. I also like a paper copy. I cut, sew, press, and layout in four different rooms (no room for a sewing room/studio to do all) and the computer is in a bedroom. Printing a pdf with colors is costly on ink. So, do not buy pdf patterns.

Julie said...

I prefer a hard copy, really not sure why. Thanks

JustJoyce said...

I like a real pattern, not a on-line pattern, my computer also has issues and I like your patterns because you write awesome instructions.

Sallie said...

I prefer paper patterns because I can carry them in to my sewing room or take them to quilt group. Thanks for the giveaway!

I like the pdf because I can print it out, look at it on the computer, and if I ever happened to lose the pattern I could just re-print it! Thanks for the chance to win!

i like pdf because I like to keep everything in a file on my comp! :)

For quilts I need a paper pattern. I have so much stored on my computer and everything isn't backed up right now, plus it's too hard to print out the quilt patterns.

I prefer a paper pattern so that I can bring it with me to any part of the house or yard or anywhere else I want. I also find it easier on the eyes. If I get a pdf pattern I end up printing it out anyway.

I prefer a paper pattern. I'm just not savy enough for a PDF file. Thanks for the chance to win. Linda

Hi! I prefer PDF patterns. It's easier for me to organize and store that way, and when I need the pattern I can just pull it up and print out anything that needs printing. Pdfs are good for me too because I don't have to worry about accidentally destroying the pattern, f something happens to it I can just recycle it and then print the piece again

I would rather the PDF pattern b/c I can download it to my iPad for Easy access.

I prefer paper patterns. They are easier to mark my spot.

I like PDF patterns as I can then just print the parts I need. Also then if I misplace the printed part I can just reprint it. (I'm always misplacing my patterns...) And if I cut it wrong I can just print out another piece. Thanks for a chance to win a gorgeous quilt pattern! :)

I'm a follower. Hope everything is going great. I like that the pdf files are easy to store and keep track of. On the other hand, the printer died a few weeks ago and the download often times out before it finishes. So....it's hard to choose. I guess paper until we replace the printer and obtain faster connection.

I like both methods for printing patterns, both work for me. Thank you for the giveaway. Your booth looked great. Glad you enjoyed Market.

Have a super great sewing and stitching day.

What a nice giveaway. I prefer hard copies of patterns. That way, they go in an open box on top of the credenza and are visible. pdf's disappear into a drawer.

I like PDF's because there is less clutter on my computer than my house, and if misplaced I can print again. Thanks for the chance to win.

I love having the paper pattern, holding it looking at it, nothing to tape together, but sometimes I'm just to lazy to wait for it. I love the instant gratification of pdf!

SewLindaAnn said...

It depends. If it's a pattern with lots of applique pieces I prefer a hard copy. Some PDF's are okay, like paper piecing. I admit to the old-fashioned sense of having something in my hand feeling better. I do have a bunch of PDF's stored on my computer, but there's nothing like sitting on the floor digging through your patterns to get you inspired.

PDFs probably because then I won't lose it if it's on my computer.

Mike Pearson said...

I prefer PDF, so if I mark one up so much or it gets damaged I can print out another copy. Also, my patterns on my computer are searchable if I need to find one. But, when I use them, I always print them out on my color printer. Also, if you convert the pdf to a bitmap/paint file, you can change the colours of the pictures (in case you want to use different colours or fabrics).

Tamara said...

Either way is fine. If there are a lot of template I would probably prefer a hardcopy.

Bethany said...

that is a hard question. I like pdf because I get them now, but then have to print and maybe tape together....so from the internet pdf, but I still love to get patterns from my local quilt shop.

Dianne said...

I love hardcopy. I'm going to copy them anyway and this way I have them in a form easy to store.

I prefer paper as my internet connection is so slow and unreliable!

I like pdf files, as long as none of the pattern pieces are larger than my printer paper. I utterly despise having to tape pages together for those larger pieces...so in that case, I would definitely want a paper version.

Amy said...

I prefer paper copy/hard copy of paterns as I only have a wee notebook computer with a really short battery life and a rubbish home printer so I like having the pattern ready for me to use! And to scale - often when I print at home I forget to hit the 'no scaling' button so I waste paper, time and energy!!

pbs.seams said...

I like PDF patterns, first because you get right away. Second because sometimes you don't need everything printed out. I only print out what I need and save on paper.

I prefer hard copy because I don't like to print tons of stuff and the hard copy usually looks nicer - nicer fonts/designs.

I prefer hardcopies also! THough if I am only buying patterns-then I don't always like to pay the shipping. So it depends.

Most definitely a hard copy. I'll take a PDF initially, but must print it out on my own. I bet it costs as much to print it myself on my home printer as it does to purchase it already printed. I don't even want to know how much it costs to print one page myself!

I don't have a preference. If I am getting them from overseas I love the PDF style as I can get it straight away and don't have to wait for the post to get through. If I am shopping I love the paper pattern and being able to look at the pictures and see the size of the pieces etc.

Having pdf is handy for storage, but I like a hard copy - and, with my printer not working now, it's necessary! I've ended up working from a pdf pattern stored on my PHONE for a quilt I'm working on for the baby - that's hard on the eyes! (And I miss your shop... :( Cypress Quiltworks is nice, but so far out...)
