Swaddle Blankets

Today I helped Laurel make 2 Swaddle Blankets using Jamie's tutorial over at Riley Blakes Cutting Corners College!  The tutorial was so easy and fun, good job Jamie!  It only took about 45 minutes to make 2 blankets!  Laurel has 2 fellow nursing students that are expecting and after class today they are giving them a surprise shower.  How fun is that!  So we whipped them right up.  The front is flannel fabric and the back is a pink Moda tone on tone regular cotton fabric.  Its great to mix fabric textures for these, I think Minky or a cotton velvet would work great too!   The size of the swaddle blanket is 34" x 42" so you need two yards of fabric and a little over 4 yards of jumbo rickrack.  You could also use pom poms instead of the rickrack, that would be cute or any trim you have on hand.  I think any new  or expecting mom would love to get one or more of these.  So easy to use and easy to wash and dry too!

Until the next post Happy Quilting!
