This is another quilt for a client. They requested this block (today it's called "Granny Square" in earlier years called "Arbor Window" or Courthouse Square").  The blocks are made from a loved ones favorite shirts. They chose the color purple as the background and border.
Betty Baker of "Shadywood Quilts" did the machine quilting. I love the pantograph used!

I made the blocks by first making a nine patch block and squaring it up (important).

I then made the 4 corner units and sewed them to 2 opposite corners, pressed and sewed the remaining 2 corner units, pressed and squared up the block.

After making this block several different ways, I found the above assembly the easiest and most consistent way of constructing the block.

Until the next post Happy Quilting!
